Health caravan serves barangay Malagutay

More or less 300 indigent families in barangay Malagutay were served during the Health Caravan Sunday, March 10, organized by the Philippine Red Cross – Zamboanga chapter in partnership with city government through the City Health Office, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Police, Ateneo de Zamboanga School of Medicine, Tzu Chi Zamboanga and other agencies.

Held at the Malagutay barangay hall, the health mission included free health consultation and medicines, first aid lectures and demonstrations, voluntary blood typing, dental services, free haircut as well as distribution of vitamins and supplements by Morishita Seggs, Rite Med, MX3, and Yakult.

The caravan likewise included recruitment and orientation relative to the 143 volunteer service, Medical Corps, and Membership with Accident Assistance Benefit or MAAB membership program.

The beneficiaries of the outreach mission residents were from Calle Lourdes, Purok 1, Purok 2, Purok 3, Purok 4, Purok 5 and sitio Corote in Malagutay.

The activity was spearheaded by PRC-ZC Chapter Board of Director Chair Dr. Victor Liozo and Jun Esilo of the BSP.

Malagutay chairperson Allan de Guzman expressed profound gratitude to the organizers for the free services offered to his constituents saying the health caravan complements the barangay council’s thrust on health. (Sheila Covarrubias)
